Community Pharmacist Consultation Service

Did you know that you can consult with a pharmacist to receive advice and treatment for certain conditions without even needing to see a GP?

Conditions treated include:

  • Treatment of minor skin ailmentsPatients of all ages presenting with any of these conditions: ▪ Burns, scalds and other abrasions ▪ Nappy rash where barrier creams alone are ineffective ▪ Barber’s rash, folliculitis ▪ Impetigo 
  • Treatment of minor localised impetigo (Adults and children aged six months and older)
  • Mild skin conditions (Adults and children 1+ years presenting with acute dermatitis, mild eczema or insect bite reactions.)
  • Treatment of Oral Candidiasis (oral thrush) in Infants (For babies over 1 month and under 2 years of age)
  • Conjunctivitis (For a child aged 3 months and under 2 years presenting with a red, irritated/sticky eye)
  • Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) (For non-pregnant women aged between 18-65 years Who have not been treated for a UTI recently with antibiotics in the last 6 months. Dipstick testing is not required.)
  • Sore throat (Adults or children aged 1 year and over presenting with symptoms of acute, uncomplicated sore throat.)

Certain exclusion criteria apply, in which case you may be redirected to the GP practice or NHS 111

Where appropriate, patients who contact their GP practices or NHS 111 may referred to this Community Pharmacist Consultation Service, and patients can also self refer to this service if their pharmacy is taking part in the scheme.
